[SFH] Aela's Breeding Project [SFH]
Post by Aela »
⭐️ Aela's Perfect Breed Project ⭐️
~ Hello, and welcome to my newest project! We all know breeding for colour and disregarding skill and temperament is the best thing to do when breeding. So that's what I'm gonna do! Jokes aside, this is the log where I'll keep track on my progress trying to create breeds matching real life phenotypical standards. My focus is on correct conformation and the right colour. Regarding colour, I have decided not to list horses with face and leg markings as tobiano even though they technically are ~
All horses - from adoption centre horse to final breed - are my own stock. No outside stallions and mares have been allowed
Current projects & progress1. Icelandic Horse
Height | Build | Body Size | Type |
12.1 -13.3 hh | Medium - Medium Heavy | 45% - 60% | 50% - 70% Pony |
Colour: Base / Cream / Dun / Roan / Silver / Tobiano
About 0% done
~ Note: I'm allowing myself to stray a bit further from the eval guide regarding Icelandics. I feel like modern Icelandics have developed into a taller, leaner and more horse-typey breed (HWO is much more traditional), and these are the kind i love the most, work with and own, and thus want to recreate.
2. Friesian
Height | Build | Body Size | Type |
15.0 -17.1 hh | Medium Light - Medium | 35% - 50% | 60% Horse - 55% Pony |

Quick update: Added Oldenburg to completed projects! :)
- Only a few horses away from the Danish Warmblood, but will likely struggle with "type" under evaluation

Oddly enough, no struggle at all. For once, the stars aligned and gave me a 5* Danish Warmblood the first time!
The main aim of my project has now been completed - and now I get to focus on breeding Spanish Barbs with good appaloosa patterns so I can make a decent representative of the Knabstrupper breed. I first started planning to breed DWs with my own stock only a couple of years ago, so to finally have done it feels great!
Also excited to get started with the Jutlands, I'm kind of tired of sport horse types by now ;)

Frederiksborg has been added. I was a bit torn on whether to add him or not, so I've decided to make it a temporary deal until I get a better one. He looks great and a lot like the real breed, but is only 1* in evaluations.
At least I finally got rid of the LP Varnish that has had a habit of appearing where I don't want it...
