Foal Way Taller Than Sire/Dam?

Post by lmp.pony »

I’m just curious, it doesn’t really bother me. I have a Shetland x Dales yearling colt, his sire (Shetland) is 15.2hh and his dam (Shetland x Dales) is also 15.2hh, but the colt is 19.3hh only as a yearling? How’d that happen? His grandsire (on his dam’s side) was 21hh.

His grandsire would probably explain why. It isn't abnormal to have things like this happen :) You've got yourself a handsome colt there!
