Quarter Horses
Post by Ziel »
【Quarter Horses】
There are three types of Quarter Horses: Stock, Halter and Racing.
Stock horses are the “classic” Quarter Horses, and excel in traditional ranching-type disciplines such as reigning and cutting. Cutter Bill and his kin are excellent examples of the Stock type.
Halter type horses, such as Sunny Dee Bar, are the intermediate type. They often have the muscular build of the Stock type, as well as the leggy, lengthy proportions of the Racing type.
Racing type horses such as Easy Jet tend to be sleeker in muscle, with long legs, necks, and backs. Their lanky, streamlined appearance is often thanks to Thoroughbred influence.
These three conformations are to be kept in mind when breeding Quarter Horses - it may be more useful to breed towards one conformation, although it is common to have horses that lean more towards a certain type when establishing a breeding population.
Further information on the breed can be found at the following sites:

Hey there - worked on the Quarter Horse entry! I may go back and loosen some of the requirements. Seems the AQHA has pretty lax conformation guidelines!Gaagii wrote:.

Updated the Gypsy Vanner breeding standards, as well as added "last updated" dates for all the breeding standards!
Changes to the Gypsies is, basically, making the previous "goal" sizes for the head / neck / back the maximum sizes, as with my own stock, I believe they look more accurate on the shorter ends of things!

Update to Gypsy Vanner standard after discussion with local owners at a show:
Height is 13hh to 16.2hh. Short is more desirable.
The Gypsy they were exhibiting was 15hh, which they say is rare in Gypsys nowadays! Most are around 13-14hh.

Hi there! I would be able to do that, but I'm not sure if I'll be using HWO for the next while, as I am going to a working student course at an equestrian facility IRL. I may be too busy, or simply not have a computer with me. Sorry about that!Lila2517 wrote:Could someone make a breeding registry for Andalusian horses?

Belgians
Post by Ziel »
【Belgians】
There are two breeds* of Belgians: Brabants and American Belgians.
*Since Brabants do not exist yet in HWO, for the purpose of the registry, both breeds will be represented by "Belgian" horses.
Brabants (otherwise known as Brabançons) were the original "Belgian" horse. They have short legs with long feathers, short backs, large heads, and overall stand shorter than their descendent breed.
American Belgians are the descendant breed of the Brabant, and have become the most popular horse breed in America. They have long legs with minimal feathering, short backs, large or medium heads, and stand much taller than Brabants.
Further information on the breeds can be found at the following sites:
