Welsh Ponies and Cobs

Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

I'm doing some necromancy bringing the welsh section back up! I 'm in love with welsh cobs and own one IRl and seeing there are so few active welsh breeders here makes me a bit sad so I'm going to try bringing some activity in this section!

I"ve been playing around with welsh cobs and welsh mountain ponies in this game for a bit, trying to better both breed (a few crosses with arabians/hackney ) and to get Welsh C/D (I haven't succeeded yet, wish me luck!)

here are some of my ponies (purebred or not)

An Avel Cardigan

successful eventing Stallion, Up for stud!

http://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/1177380
An Avel Shadow Warrior

one of his sons, good looks and genetics!

An Avel Welsh Comet

another part Welsh Cob stud, carries dun

An Avel Sparkly Frost

newest foal

An Avel Taraco

hackney cross

more to come!

I'm open to trade/sell (except those with 5* for welsh pony of cob type), I can also put any of my stallions up for stud if you want one in particular

I am the only one who thinks most welsh cob in this game are kind of ugly? it's a pity because it's such a beautiful breed in real life... their legs seem sooo short!

would you consider putting him up for stud? I'd gladly use him as long as you keep his price reasonnable ( around 1000 /1500 or I can trade one of my older mare to you to make one or two more foals)

He is up for stud now. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

I've got two lines of Welsh Cobs going at the moment - true to type with finer heads and feathering, and ones that don't really look very true to type but are fine for my Connemara project.

This mare is nearly the ideal of what I'm trying to breed, ideally I want to get a little heavier feathering and a thicker mane and tail. But I'm happy with her otherwise. Some have come out with some pretty awful bucket heads but I'm happy with hers.

I'm a little late to the party and not really dressed for it, but ... I'm working part-time on Welsh Ponies to introduce some diversity to my target line of Welaras. For now, I'm using public studs with limited success.

Once I get some decent Welshes, I may phase out my old Haflinger lines, as they seem to excell in strength-based sports over speed-based ones.

I just got myself a Welsh Mountain pony and she is now pregnant from a 50% WMP x 50% Welsh Cob so if i am correct i can get a Purebreed Welsh Pony out of them! I just started with them so i only have 1 mare but if someone is selling some nice Welsh Pony mares i would be intrested! :)

hi, here is a little update on my welsh breeding program:

I managed to create welsh ponies of cob type and I'm now the proud owner of the only 2 live ponies of the breed!

An Avel Eilir

An Avel First Day

I'm quite happy with them but I fear That it will be difficult to avoid in-breeding if nobody else takes an interest in the breed. I can offer studs by 4 or 5 stars stallions if you are interested in helping me developping the breed.

I'm still working toward getting my own line of welsh ponies and improving welsh mountains and welsh cob stocks. As I try to avoid getting to many products by the same parents, I may have older welsh or welsh crosses crosses mare/stallions for sale on a regular basis. you may find them in this pasture:

http://www.horseworldonline.net/farm/pasture/78438
ping me with an offer if intersted in any of them

regarding welsh cobs, here are my latest achievments (with the help of lines from CW and starlite studs of course), all over 50 000 genetic potential and with golds and greens (but most of them are still of dark colour, I'm working of getting more variety there):

An Avel Joyfull

An Avel Celtic Fame

An Avel Fancy Lad

An Avel Misty Cardiff

An Avel Arthfaël

An Avel Cardiff Fancy

I've got a couple Welsh Mountain Ponies I'd like to give away to a breeding program in which they'd be used?

I have a string of Welsh Cobs used in my Connemara project, but I've also set aside those that are more true to type Welsh Cob to keep producing as straight Welsh Cobs. Currently these two are probably the ideal breeding pair in terms of looks - pony head, long mane and tail, solid body, medium feathering.
