Frost’s Guide To Competition Success

Post by Frost »

Hello everyone. I wanted to share to information I’ve gathered.
These % and numbers may not be 100% accurate and guaranteed please note these are just what data I have personally collected in my time here.

Each competition has a evaluation that makes a horse good or bad at that discipline.

Height effects competition.
Weight effects competition.
Temperament effects competition.
However just as important the horses conformation such as body type and build effect competition.
There has been some speculation that age and “heart” or just luck will also have an effect.

To find your horses evaluation just grab a breed eval book does not matter the breed and evaluate your horse.
You will be given the horse’s below information

Height
Build
Body Size
Type

Example

16.3
Light
25%
83%

How does this effect comp? Each competition has a criteria based in these %s.

For example the Racing Criteria as it is known to me:

Racing:
Speed, Stamina, Strength
Here are racings criteria as is known currently-
Height 18h+
Horse Type Light
Mod-Thin
Spirited
Body size 25% (15-30% works but 25 seems best)
Horse Type 83% (80-85 works but 83 seems best)
HGP 61k+
Speed 60+
Strength 30+
Stamina 40+
Speed+Strength+Stamina needs to add up to at least 140

Each discipline has its own unique criteria.
I’ll post below what data I have again please note it may not be 100% accurate I don’t comp all of these disciplines and you may end up finding more finite numbers.

Note The Listed Times Are Approximation For RECORDS Not Just To Be Decent But Don’t Guarantee A Record.
Individual Heart In Competition As Well As YOUR Ability To Train And Compete Will Be A Massive Factor In Your Horses Performance In Actual Competitions.

Weight And Temperament For a Competition Are VERY Important Down To A Fine %. Test Your Trained Horses Thoroughly And Freeze Them When Competitive For Best Results.

Horses Build, Stats,HGP, And Height Are Still Important So The Above Discipline Guide Can Help There.

Also I’m Fairly Certain That Once COI Hits Around 100-120% Has Minimal Effects Anyways So Inbreed Away.

****

I also like to add I know a lot of people test newborns the reasons that does not work consistently is there are to many variables. Height is changing each turn which means weight is changing each turn as weight is not consistent until height has topped out(age 5) and temperament in newborns is inconsistent. Temperament isnt just bombproof-highstrung its a scale image a 0-100 and each set of numbers is a temperament. Say 0-19 bombproof 20-39 is calm 40-59 is even tempered 60-79 is spirited and 80-100 is highstrung. Just because a horse says its a temperament like high strung doesn’t mean its the right number. You may need an 80(like with racing) but have a 95. By taking a 5yr old who is done growing and has been consistently fed yellow corn you can strip away all variables leaving only the horses final natural ability to show in locals.

Basically when adjusting the weight and temperament you have to find the exact spot of perfect on the scale before competition. Your best bet is to slowly adjust and then freeze to compete.

Cheers!

Thank you for the ping as well as sharing the information you had gathered with the community. The disciplines you have strength in look as accurate as possible with the current information we (community) have. The other disciplines have a higher-than-base offering. Also all of the information takes from the Record Holders, which is a good touch, rather than the given discipline having a base with seemingly higher requirements to fulfill that in the end probably would not matter too much.
Overall a nice addition to the communities competition help guides... It will be much easier to link this to someone instead of having the need to explain what is good (and what is not, on this note.) for each discipline. Not to mention this would be helpful information to come back to for quite literally any aged player, not just new ones. I will likely end up coming back here if I start a new project.

Thank you for sharing!
I'll be linking this under Competition & Breeding Studies rather than another heading. I've been meaning to revamp the way that's been set up. -_- Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Very interesting to hear of success and failures using this data. Specifically on height and age. Height is something I've only speculated about with a few people and not calculated that into any of my current data.
