Is this some sort of bay roan?

He's wearing a foal coat. As newborns, black foals are reddish in color, like their coat has been sunburnt (like the color you see on sunburnt black-coated horses) or they have a grayish or bluish hue, in this case, they're a smoky black, they carry a cream gene then.

I think he is a very dark strawberry brown, but he could also be a black one that is just light because of his age...
