It could be due to sire and dams family tree of genes

I'd guess, and I may be wrong on this, that the dam of both mares possesses a cream gene and the sire or dam or possibly both have hidden dapples. The dam may also have a copy of the silver gene, but I'm not positive on that, and the sire I think has a champagne gene.
