The Rare Breed Repopulation Community (2023 Edition)

Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

1.) What contests would you, the members of this community, like to take part of?
I do like the highest Conformation contest, but to add more of a challenge, highest Conformation contest bred from scratch (AC horses)?

Specific Breeders breed what they'd like, so go for whatever you want. You can certainly work on the Appendix Quarter Horses and if you're still going when we're done with Irish Sport Horses then the other Breeders can vote to do AQHs as well. : D
Update: I made my first Appendix Quarter Horse today! She's a 5- eval! here's her link. She has mine and the groups branding on her. _-TSK-_ ❖║R•B•R•C║❖ Bright Hurricane https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3806109

Club Updates:

I've added more future breed suggestions for both Breeders and Challenged Breeders. These are just suggestions and will be voted on once Irish Sport Horses are complete. Challenged Breeders, let me know what breed you guys want to do and I'll make that the official target for you guys; you don't have a target at the moment.

I've also clarified what will mark a breed as complete for the club:
A breed will be considered complete when the population is at least 20 higher than it was before we started and the club has bred at least a pasture full (12). Ideally those horses should be sold to the HWO community when they're no longer needed by the club.
Let me know if that sounds good; I'm open to suggestions for changing it if needed. A 20 increase doesn't sound like much, but considering some of the most rare breeds have less than 10 horses... well, it has the ability to increase populations by 100%+ without drowning the Challenged Breeders in horses. It'll also bump up some of the other breeds. That'd imply that there'd be 20 horses being held by the club instead of 12, but one must assume that others might pick up the breed while we do it as well as the fact that breeders may wish to keep a horse or two.

That being said, we can always go back and revisit a breed if we choose to, and Challenged Breeders might pop their breeds above the 100 population mark, which would then fall under the territory of normal Breeders to work with if they'd like.

Other news is an idea I had: I had a thought of making a newsletter of sorts with monthly updates on our achievements for both club members and non-club members to stay up to date with our efforts. Let me know what you guys think of that; it's just an idea at the moment.

Member Updates:

ThatShowKiddd is working on Appendix Quarter Horses and have already bred one, which is amazing! I'll keep that breed on the list of future breeds and we can check on it's population when we choose the next breed. If they manage to tip it above the 500 mark by that point then we'll mark that breed as complete and remove it from the breed choices.

I've gotten another Latvian Harness Horse, but she's another filly. I'm still working on getting a colt in order to have a breeding pair going. I'm hoping to get them to be as unrelated as I can, but at this point I'm not overly worried about COI.
(Edit: make that another two fillies because I just got one more. Three in total now!)

UniqueFarms bred their first Gotland on the 4th of this month. They noted the breed's population to be 177 and as of this post that number has risen to 183! I counted at least 6 Gotlands on their farm, so congratulations on your breeding!

longhi.pouncer is taking a break from the game. I hope it does them well!

That's all we've got so far in terms of updates, but let me know of your progress and I'll include you in the next one. Cheers!

I've added two more breeds to the future list thanks to Hannah771's suggestions: the Narregansett Pacer and the Yili. The Pacer will be a Breeder horse with a population of 190 and the Yili will be for the Challenged Breeders due to it's population of only 11.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Hiya, everyone!

This is just an update on the monthly contest arrangement. I think we'll skip his month since we're already halfway through (unless anyone would like us to do an easy contest such as colors or patterns).

Next month will be a conformation contest! This might be more difficult for those of us who don't have premium, but there's always premium players willing to list off conformations for us.

The contest will be based on the highest and lowest conformation stats that you can breed from Adoption Centre horses. You'll start with an AC mare of any breed and work from there; there's numerous public studs from the Adoption Centre in the stud ads, though you're welcome to adopt brand new horses to work with.

The big rule will be that each new generation must be bred with an AC horse. It doesn't necessarily have to be a brand new AC horse; COI will be completely ignored for this contest. You'll start with a mare, breed it to an AC stud, get a foal, breed the foal to an AC horse, breed the resulting foal to an AC horse, and continue the cycle until you reach the horse that you intend to enter into the contest.

Hopefully that makes sense! I've been trying to think of the best way to make it an AC horse contest and this is what I've come up with. If you have any ideas or suggestions for it then let me know; we've still got half a month before this contest is created so there's plenty of time to change things.

This will of course require a premium member to be the judge in order to validate the numbers which I'm hoping Heartland2001 will be willing to do as the other active leader. If not then if there's any premium volunteers from you guys that'd be great. You wouldn't be able to enter if you're a judge.

I'm thinking prizes will be trained horses and/or money. I'm out of any rarer breeds that I'd be willing to gift at this point, but it's possible that Latvian production will be underway at that time and so that could possibly be a prize as well.

Anyway, if you have any suggestions for alterations for April's contest or suggestions for a future contest, let me know!

You're doing great! You have a great spread of coloration which I of course appreciate and the HGP's good on them.

You're welcome to check my secondary farm for any studs that might be useful for your projects; I'm always open to putting some up for a little while and my fee's always $1,000. I know I have North African Barbs, a variety of Arabians, some Thoroughbreds, and on this account I've been working on Forest Horses lately.

They might not be a ton of help with the specific breeds like the Norikers that Halfingers require, but if you ever need to stud to any of them then let me know.

Link a rehomeable horse or one that you'd like back and I'll transfer funds for that book. : )

I was working really hard to get some different colors going so they didnt all look the same. I've been using some of my good AQH eval thoroughbreds that have some really nice colors on them. once i get the population to over 510 ima call it quits. And i appreciate your help! This horse is up for sell and you can just rehome him :) https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3775113
