Just remember that this can be prevented by using the offers only option and now because the player owns the horse, they technically are allowed to do whatever they wish with the horse which is why players need to make sure they use the offers only option to send horses to trainers and/or transferring a horse to another player or to a side account. So if they decide to not give the horse back, there isn't much you can do.
