Lower back area, hips, looking 'downward' (if horse was standing). Left side.
At least, that's what I see, but I can never read these things!

Mojo's a Mom! Well... almost. She's going to look SO cute when that foal hits the ground. :P

And by the way, I'm pretending to see spots and To on that pic!

Actually... now that I'm looking at the photo more... I'm switching my brownie point guess. Instead of the hips there, we're looking at the ribcage. So... upper back, with the neck out of view off to the left. Embryo's right side pointing 'upward'. But... I don't know. For all my guesses, we could just be looking at the heart. BIG heart!
Looks like she... he... it... inherited that from Mojo. ;)

So the black void is the amniotic sac and the bumpy white line through it is baby's spine. :D The head was up to the right. The shorter white line above the bumpy white line (near the middle) is about where baby's heart is. (The white line isn't the heart, just a similar location.)

There's definitely spots somewhere - whether or not they'd be on this portion of the baby only time will tell.

I don't think my brain has quite processed that yes, there is still a baby in there. It's still stuck in "bad luck mode" from last year. But it's in there! And if I take good care and all continues to go well I will get to meet it in less than a year! I really don't know how to handle this.

Also, I think I already have baby's registered name picked out but I'm going to keep it to myself for now. (Because goodness knows it could change.) It's not gender specific so can be used no matter what baby ends up being and has possible barn names for either.

Hmm... So my first guess was the better of the two.
Talk out of one thing, talk into the wrong one. -_-

The closer you get, the more set into it you'll be. But that bad luck feeling might continue to stick around till the very end. Just the way 'we' are sometimes.
Oo!!! Jet's gonna be an uncle! Hah!

I just got a memory pop-up in my photos that it was one year ago today that I sent Mojo up to the repro barn in WA. I really can't believe that was just a year ago. It feels like so much longer.

I also can't believe that it's a year later and she's just two months (and change) pregnant. Life sure is odd.

It's hard to believe that one year ago you were in Washington State!!! :o
And Mojo too.
Wow!

Day 128 Update
Oh my gosh - can you believe we're in the second trimester already?! This year (2021) has been going super fast for me. But then I go and count how many days pregnant Mojo is and it just seems like she should be further along than that. Anyway, on to the update:

Mojo went to the vet today! It was originally just for a palpation and shots but the vet thought she felt a little small on palpation so she decided to do another trans-rectal ultrasound. And here's what we found:

Mojo is having... (drumroll please) ...
Image
ALIENS!
Apparently a normal foal was too boring.

J/k. In all seriousness my vet had no idea what those three white circles were, but she also didn't think they were cause for concern. Me, being the worry-wart that I am, got home and immediately posted the picture in several "ask vet" places. Funnily enough this image is captured so infrequently that only two vets (that answered) had actually seen it before. Those "aliens" are actually the cross-section of the umbilical cord! That means we're seeing the two arteries that send blood to the fetus and the vein that takes the used-up blood back to Mojo.

And in case you hadn't noticed, that weird white thing under the aliens is a hoof. :D

So everything is going well. Mojo got her flu/rhino and potomac horse fever vaccines today and will be heading back to the vet's office on September 7th to get her first Pneumabort vaccine and get her teeth done and have xrays taken of her feet (just to see where they are as compared to two years ago).

:o Aliens!!!
Run!
I mean... Ohhh.... CUTE... Baby... :P

It actually even looks like that hoof is wearing a shoe already.
This is an absolutely glorious! picture.

Day 133 Update
Not much going on but just wanted to share a comparison photo of Mojo.

Image

I think it looks she might be getting just a tiny bit of a belly but she's still basically the same. This is completely normal and to be expected. Mares don't really start "ballooning" until about three months before the foal is born. But it'll be interesting to see where she's at closer to the end of this trimester.
