It's the last week of our 20th birthday celebrations and we've still got more gifts for everyone!

This has been a wonderful birthday month for us, and we hope everyone has loved the gifts we've been handing out. HWO has been a passion project for us over these last 20 years. For most of that time we've only been able to work on the game outside of our regular jobs but this past year we've been able to dedicate our time fully to continue development of the game and make it into the best online horse breeding game. We have so many ideas for the future and we can't wait to share them all with you as we continue to add more features and fix existing issues.

Horse World Online Birthday Celebration Week 3!

It's the third week of our 20th birthday celebrations and we've got more gifts for everyone!

This week we wanted to reminisce about our old horse artwork and share how far we’ve progressed since the game first launched 20 years ago.

We’ve seen a few major artwork updates over the years and experimented with a few techniques that never ended up being used. Our first horses were simple line drawings, with 10 different “base” horses, and the only the colours/markings changed on the artwork. Eventually we moved on to using Macromedia/Adobe Flash and updated the artwork to use line drawings with some simple detail shading. We even experimented with 3D horses using Macromedia Director but unfortunately Director was a short-lived product, and the 3D horses never actually made it into the game.

Then in 2014 we re-launched the game using our dynamic conformation horses. No longer did we need to maintain 10 different base horses, now all the horses could be created using just one base. We’re really looking forward to the new updated artwork we’re planning to launch for 2025, what amazing changes we’ve seen over our 20-year history.

Horse World Online Birthday Celebration Week 2!

It's the second week of our 20th birthday celebrations and we've got more gifts for everyone!

Twenty years ago we were young, bright eyed and optimistic about the future of HWO. We were in active testing and development, and preparing to open the doors for everyone to join us. The official birthday launch for HWO is November 13th, or at least we're pretty sure it is, Ha Ha. You see it seems we never actually wrote down what date the game opened. I can say with certainty that the domain name was registered on October 7, 2004 but it was still a few weeks before we launched the game. The earliest archived page in the Internet Archives is dated November 13, 2004. So, we've decided long ago to celebrate that as the birthdate of HWO.

So this Wednesday make sure to give a little Cheer for us! It's been a very long, and sometimes very bumpy road, but we're so happy to be here and so thrilled that you all love this game as much as we do.
