Mercer Herd Farm

Welcome to Mercer Herd Farm! Here, we believe in hard work, dedication, and determination. We train promising horses for competition, organize competitive events, and breed all different kinds of horses for training or specific projects. This is a safe space where everyone is welcome, and neither hate nor negativity will be tolerated. Feel free to come by anytime and say hello, but please restrain from feeding the horses. ;) We hope you come back to visit soon!

Training

Training was mentioned briefly in the segment above, but we will go into depth about our training methods and policies here. All of our horses have been and will always be trained at Mercer Herd Farm, so we unfortunately do not take recommendations for other training facilities. Our training program is private as well, so as much as we would like to work with your horse, we don’t offer a public training program at this time. Please understand that we are working on it, but as of right now, there are too many horses in our care that we need to focus on. In addition, the only horses that will ever be considered for training, must have a genetic potential of 60,000 or higher. This is how we determine wether or not they are built for competition. A horse also must be fully trained before it is entered in its first competitive event.

Competition

At Mercer Herd Farm, any gender, coat, temperament, or build can and will be considered for competition. However, we make our decisions not only based off of training, but also based off of what we need to see more of competing. For example, if we need better horses in the endurance category, we are more likely to make our decisions based on the stamina of the horse we are evaluating. We are also constantly organizing events that all different kinds of players can compete in, so keep looking for competitions made by HiLove.

Breeding

The main purpose for breeding at Mercer Herd Farm, is so that more of our horses can go into training, and then competition. Alternatively, if we are working on a project, we may breed horses that meet the expectations for that project. If the offspring does not, however, we end up either selling it, rehoming it, or placing it in a filly/colt pasture. We have designated horses for breeding, so none of our retired horses, training horses, or competition horses will ever be giving birth.

Market

Frequently, we do end up running out of room for all of our horses, which then forces us to rehome some of them. This is a pity, considering what great potential some of them had. We have started trying to get better at selling them instead, but please note that if they have not been bought after two weeks, we do have to rehome them. All of our male breeding horses are stud horses as well, but it has become hard to post adds for all of them. If you see “stud horse” in someone’s notes, feel free to ping me, and ask that they be offered up for stud. You will also notice that in front of everyone’s name is the prefix ~MH~. This stands for Mercer Herd, and acts as a tracker for all of our horses. If you do choose to purchase one of our horses, please keep that prefix in their name. This is not a requirement, but we like to keep track of all of the horses that we’ve used for breeding, and then sold. We like to keep a low COI.
