Plume or not?

Post by Veterinarian »

The horse above seems to have a lighter shade of hair on his tail as well as slightly behind his ears.

The plume gene is most commonly visible on bays and my horse is black based.

I do not think the fact that he carries one copy of the cream gene does produces the lightened hairs but maybe I am wrong, does anyone know wether this horse carries the olume gene or not?

This would be something Gaagii would probably like to see...

From what I last remember, Gaagii hasn't yet found it on black.

I don't think this is plume, but is rather a remnant of shading on smoky blacks. I've noticed them on my smoky blacks as well, from lines that have no evidence of plume in any of the bay-based members.
