What Colour Are These Horses?
Post by HorseRider123987 »
I've recently decided to work out my horses colours since I thought it would be easier to then work out the offspring's colour using the whole horse colour genes thing that I never understand . And I realised I was really, really bad at identifying stuff like this. Anyways some of the colours were a bit confusing and I tried all the guides but didn't really find a result for these horses (Or I didn't see the colour). Here are the horses:
1. https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2923403 - I don't get the yellow on it.
2. https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3028169 - I think this is some sort of bay/wild bay or something
3. https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2958928 - I don't get the yellow on this either
And the most confusing one:
4. https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3027970
If someone could help me that would be great

Starlit Illusion has a cream gene. Cream genes are the ones that make palominos and buckskins (as well as smoky blacks and smoky browns). The 'yellow' gives this away. She also has dun (those wild stripes are earmarks of this gene) and Lp (those are the spots). Some people refer to this coat color as 'Dunskin'. I sometimes get confused by it so I simply call it a buckskin dun.HorseRider123987 wrote:I've recently decided to work out my horses colours since I thought it would be easier to then work out the offspring's colour using the whole horse colour genes thing that I never understand . Starlit Illusion is a bay. The difference between wild bay and bay on HWO, is that the wild bay has super short black-colored legs, below the ankles. He also has dun and Lp.
Light Illusion is the same as Starlit Illusion, I think you get that now.
Ever Silent is also a bay with dun. But she also has the silver gene, noted by the white mane and tail.
Lp will change the coat as the horse ages, creating very unusual and unique evolution's of the horse's coat, this is called 'varnish'. Lp is also responsible for turning black hairs on a horses coat into red hairs, sometimes, not all the time, so a black horse can suddenly look like a red, or chestnut horse. It also seems that your line has a lot of tiger eye in it. Tiger eye is what causes the green/hazel eye color.
