Surviving is a great word. :)

There has been an uptick in people needing grinders recently... just FYI.

Status Update including revised vision:

Right now, i have a number of ongoing projects, and I think its time to reshape my vision of where Royale is headed, especially since i have had a break and had time to look at everything from a distance.

Despite how tempting it is to launch into new projects on a whim, such as the new spotted TB's... that are stunning, by the way, i'm going to (initially) keep focused on two goals. From here, i have divided my focus into the three arms of HWO's specialties, so everything is kept nice and clear :D

BREEDING
1. 6 Generation Adoption Center Breed Improvement Challenge
This is a public competition that expired just after I went AWOL - I was competing, but guess it is too late now. either way, I would still like to complete the challenge. the challenge? to create the most improved horse after a maximum of 6 generations. above, I wrote that i want to focus on only 2 projects. this is not one of them - I just want to finish it off and for now, archive it, as with all the rest of my 'old projects.' sounds simple, get a couple of AC horses, breed them together until you have 6 generations of horses. not so much. I learned a lot from Blackoak about understanding when/how and what makes a foal an improvement from its parents. so, each generation has been carefully mapped, recorded and culled as necessary.
unfortunately, a lot of the data has been lost due to a computer issue. thankfully, I recoded some data here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=19764&p=130615#p130615

Right now, i am up to the generation 5 foals. so, complete all foals, record their data.. (which sounds so much easier and less time consuming than it is) cull as necessary, age them and repeat for generation 6. then, finally, i can be down to my two main focus points:

2. Endurance Arabians
well, this is a long standing project, and is not likely to end any time soon. despite the fact that there are far to many arabians in the game, i'm not going to stop breeding them. my main goal is to break the endurance record. at this stage, but principle is to breed my best horses, train and 'test' them, use the 'seconds' - which i'm still pretty pleased with most of them - as grinders - either keep or sell, and repeat.
my favorite arabian at the moment is undoubtedly https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/2312973. his best time so far is 19.31... so yeah - i'm pleased with that :D
"€R♛ Masked Arrow"

3. Australian Horses
where to start?
there are 4 direct breeds of Australian horses on HWO, the Australian Pony, Australian Brumby, Australian Stock Horse and Australian Draught Horse. this is another 'from scratch' project, starting with only AC horses and only using internal stock. after i have 'created' each breed, then i will look at improving the lines and making them competition worthy.
Australian Pony - not started
Australian Brumby - not started.
Australian Stock Horse - well under way. exact status not known - left it two months ago and i have frozen horses for this project hanging around everywhere! getting back to it as soon as the 6 generation project is complete.
Australian Draught Horse very excited to announce that this project has just begun :D I have included the 'breed recipe' below. apologies in advance for any spelling errors! :D starting with the percheron, since thats the quickest area to see results. should get some very soon.. :D

TRAINING
Internal - training 99% of horses associated with the arabian endurance project.
External - on hold for now.

COMPETING
Hosting - yes, i do host competitions on more than 2 accounts, with the condition that i do NOT EVER intentionally financially benefit from any competitions (excepting those held on my main account.)
Competing - very strict on myself within this area. right now, the only horses i have competing are grinders and perhaps soon, some test subjects for my endurance arabian project. any specialty competition horses are kept on Royal training. grinders may be entered from a separate account but never against another horse that i own. royal training and royale ranch are the two accounts that i use predominately for both hosting events and competing. if anyone has any questions or issues with this, i am more than happy to discuss, and change my practices if necessary.

its great to be back :D

Update: 7th August 2020

Trust everyone is well and fighting to get through these unusual times :)
A quote for you all that has helped me through... "Don't worry about something that you cannot change for more than 5 minutes..."
And a song, Guy Sebastian - Standing with you <3

Index from my Project Log: ( viewtopic.php?f=17&t=19764 )
Project 1: Australian Project (breeding the A.Pony, A. Stock Horse, A. Draught Horse, and A. Brumby from scratch)
Project 2: Endurance Turks (Breeding a line of Turks from scratch to competing quality)
Project 3: Operation 337 [Breeding Project] (1 of very horse breed, from scratch with 0% COI)
Project 4: Show Steppers [Building the herd of my dreams - white, feathers etc)
Project 5: High Comments, low genes project. (as drescribed)
Project 6: Top Ranking Horses Page (get a horse to page one of the top ranking horses page)
Project 7: Basic Breed improvement in 6 generations (from AC horses, 6 generations on)]

since its been a while, i want to go over all my currently listed projects, as above. and since I can, i'm starting from the bottom of the list:

PROJECT 7: Basic Breed improvement in 6 generations
"Project Goal:
To gain Experiance in a) improving breeding lines b) being able to determine what a "good" and "bad" foal looks like and c) to be part of ** amazing competition.
The Project:
To start with AC horses, and improve them as much as possible, up to 6 generations on."
- taken from my project log. see link above for further information.
Further info since last update:
Up to generation 5, the second last one. got up to 200 horses within my heard. instantly culled any foals with any of the following traits in an attempt at maintaining some control: a) any red stats b) a HGP lower than both the parents. of interesting note is that a couple of parents seemed to through visibly bad foals, but thats just showing their bad genes, good to get the out of the road. unfortunately, with the way that i was doing this project, every horse (with the exception of those that i am now culling on first sight) need a lot of recording and analyzing. to start with, all known information from each horse needs to be transferred to an excel document, then the data compared to their parents data to see if the foal improved or not. then, from the remaining acceptable foals, the 'best' fillies and colts have to be picked, aged and have 3 foals with each possible combination. so, it takes a lot of time!
so, good news or bad news first?
bad news it is: well, during this process, i uh, 'lost' all the data. so, i have a lot - repeat - a lot of horses around that have no data of their previous generation, or the generation before that.
the good news: I have learned a lot from this project. for starters, i'm a whole lot more efficient at determining weather a foal is a good example or a bad example of its parents. and very importantly.. i have learnt that by the time that you get to the fourth or so generation, the improvement begins to level out. or at least it did with the horses i used. of course, it would, could and will change with the number of horses that you use in the beginning. so, a statement would be: when starting a new line of horses, new blood needs to be added regularly. for lines beginning with 3 stallions and mares, it is suggested that new blood is added around the 4th - 6th generation.
Status as at 7th August 2020:
Scrapped. I learned a lot from doing this project, but i have aged out - or rather, in the process of aging out my horses. reasoning? 1. data irretrievable. 2. learnt my lesson :)
*Project 7 officially closed.*

Project 6: Top Ranking Horses Page (get a horse to page one of the top ranking horses page)
well and truly closed. see project log for more information.

project 5: high stats, low genes or removal of the graying gene.
never started or established.

Project 4: Show Steppers [Building the herd of my dreams - white, feathers etc)
not started, possibly on hold until true white is introduced into the game. or at least i have time to understand the genetics behind the colors.

Project 3: Operation 337 [Breeding Project] (1 of very horse breed, from scratch with 0% COI)
not started, on hold.

Project 2: Endurance Turks (Breeding a line of Turks from scratch to competing quality)
see project log for more information.
very simular situation to my 6 generation project challange. i had started it actualy beofre that project, and it hadnt gotten as far. however, it was much more extensive. a lot of reporting, and again, all data was lost. I do have to give BlackOak2 a lot, and i repeat, a lot of credit here. she has helped me endlessly thorough many of my projects, and has been

will update more later.. got a cat to deal with

:)
Good to see you back around.

I'm thinking I might need a projects tracking page myself. Some of them I don't want to reveal, but others should be. I was using my own farm page for them, but that's getting a little crowded and I think it's just about time for a revamp.
Which I'm not going to do anytime soon. But I do think I need to tackle both.

As always, a good read and also acceptable or inevitable outcomes. The great thing is that the knowledge learned has been retained.

Update as at 11/08/2020 (August, not November... apologies for those that follow a different date format ;) )

now, my cat had an issue.. aka heat... go figure.
and then time went.. whooosh and its gone.

but now, im here..
so, not really an additional update, just following on from where i left off last time.

so, quick recap:
Project 2: Endurance Turks (Breeding a line of Turks from scratch to competing quality)
see project log for more information.
very simular situation to my 6 generation project challange. i had started it actualy beofre that project, and it hadnt gotten as far. however, it was much more extensive. a lot of reporting, and again, all data was lost. I do have to give BlackOak2 a lot, and i repeat, a lot of credit here. she has helped me endlessly thorough many of my projects, and has been...

now, from now:
long story short, as you have most likely already figured, i have scrapped the project 2, same issue and result as the 6 generation challange (i forget what number it was.) I do want to pick it back up again, but im not sure what breed i will focus on.. or if it will be any breed, or simply bred for a certain event, perhaps. speaking of, its not much of a secret that one of my favourite horse events is endurance. (i dont like racing.. not sure why, perhaps i see it as cruel? im not much of an animal activist, but perhaps that is my limit ;) ) the racing belgians have caught my interest, possibly becuase they are naturally a strong breed, and i feel that could lend itself well to endurance, even though the race doesnt directly measure such a stat, it could infulence other areas indirectly, especially since strngth is such a naturally weak area for the traditional endurance horses, namely, arabians. we'll see.

hmm, finally:
Project 1 Australians
pretty certain from now on, im going to divide the project into multible parts... the end goal is to be the predominant breeder and competer of the australian pony, the australian stock horse, the australian draught horse and australian brumby here on HWO.
but to start with, i am breeding all above mentioned horses from scratch.. why? its fun :D
since the brumby = australian stock x australian pony, i cant look at that until those two breeds are complete. at this stage, i'm somehwere amonst the australian stock horse, ironically my least favourite of the bunch.. but lets see where we can go there! :)
so, for the future,
Project 1, part a: Australian Stock Horse
Project 1, part b: Australian Pony
Project 1, part c: Australian Brumby
Project 1, Part d: Australian Draught horse.

note: i did start breeding with the australian draught horse, but for two reasons i have also discarded those horses. reason 1: it was all over the show and predominatly, reason 2: i was sloppy. i thought that if i got a bunch of horses from the ac and just mixed them in together, i would get enough results too pass. WRONG! it doesnt work like that, and i should have known better. of about 12 origional horses, i only got 1 sucessful foal. (which is well over 100 foal possibilities) yes, it can happen even when you are careful and monitor all the stats, but not as often. anyhow, thats about it for now. may do another update when i figure out where the stock horse is up to.

recap for next time:
Project 1, part a: Australian Stock Horse
Project 1, part b: Australian Pony - on hold until future notice
Project 1, part c: Australian Brumby - on hold until future notice
Project 1, Part d: Australian Draught horse. - on hold until future notice
Project 2: Endurance Turks - discontinued/archived.
Project 3: Operation 337 [Breeding Project] - on hold until further notice.
Project 4: Show Steppers [Building the herd of my dreams - on hold until furhter notice
Project 5: High Comments, low genes project. (as drescribed) - on hold until further notice
Project 6: Top Ranking Horses Page (get a horse to page one of the top ranking horses page) - completed/archived
Project 7: Basic Breed improvement in 6 generations (from AC horses, 6 generations on)] - discontinued/archived.
also to be noted is my current lifeblood of my enterprise.. the arabians. but my stratagy there is not for thepublic eye, sorry. :)
all the very best, royale.

ps - great to hear from you blackoak. although i'm pretty talanted at ghosting you all... it doesnt mean i'm not always here, just perhaps that i need some time.

2nd update in one day! well, i could combine i guess but here tis:

progress on australian project...

Part A: Australian stock horse (ASH)
Part B: Australian Pony (AP)
Part C: Australian Brumby (AB)
Part D: Australian Draught Horse (ADH)

part d is on hold until a,b and c complete.
part c = part a x part b
part a and b are both in progress at various stages, so, as follows:

PART A: ASH
ASH = (Percheron xTB) x (1/4 Horse x Waler)

Percheron = Norman Cob x (Forest - ac x belgian - ac)
Norman Cob = (TB x Belgian ac) x (Forest x Belgian)

TB = "IN STOCK"

1/4 horse = (TB x Chickasaw) x (Arabian x andulasian)
Chickasaw = (Spannish J x Sorraia) x (Spanish B x TB)

Waler = 1/4 horse x (arab x TB)

PART B: AP
(Exmoorx Timor P) x (Hackney x Anglo Arab)

Timor = Caspain x Tarpan) x (Cas x Mangolian) - all individuals in stock

Hackney = (arab x norfolk trotter) x (NTrotter x TB)
N Trotter = (TB x Cleveland Bay)
CBay = TB x (Arab x NAB)

Anglo Arab = TB x (Arab x TB)

phew. so looks like i am getting reasonably close to both of them, but where to now?

answer: continue with ASH (part a)

PART A: ASH
ASH = (Percheron xTB) x (1/4 Horse x Waler)
Percheron = Norman Cob x (Fores x belgian)
Norman Cob = (TB x Belgian) x (Forest x Belgian)
1/4 horse = (TB x Chickasaw) x(Arabian x andulasian
Chickasaw = (Spannish jx Sorraia) x (Spanish B x TB)
Waler = 1/4 horse x (arab x TB)

Focus on getting the Percheron
Percheron = Norman Cob x ([Forest x belgian )
Norman Cob = (TB x Belgian) x (Forest x Belgian)

Step 1: TB x Belgian
Step 2: Forest x Belgian - seperate?
Step 3: (TB x Belgian) x (Forest x Belgian) [=N Cob)
Step 4: N Cob x (Forest x Belgian)

Norman Cob Requirements:
Height: 15.0hh to 16.3hh
Build: M - MH
Body Size: 55% -75%
Type: 50% to 70% pony

Percheron Requirements:
Height: 15.1 to 17.1
Build: MH to H
Body size: 70-90%
Type: 60-80% pony

Physique: TBxB TB Belgian FxB Forest N Cob Percheron
Height: 15.0 -16.3 16.0-21 15.2-17.3 15.0-16.3 15.1-17.1
Build: VL-ML MH-VH ML-MH M-MH MH - H
B Size: 15-35 73-100 56-80 55-75 70-90
B Type: 85-65H 70-100P 68H-67P 50-70P 60-80P

Step 1:
TB x Belgian
The stats of the TB and Belgian have already been set.

Physique...TBxB......TB..........Belgian...FxB.......Forest......N Cob....Perch
Height.....*15.3-19..15.0-16.3..16.0-21...16-19.2..15.2-17.3..15-16.3..15.1-17.1
Build.......*ML-MH....VL-ML.....MH-VH...MH-H......ML-MH......M-MH....MH-H
B Size......*35-73.....15-35......73-100...64-90.....56-80........55-75....70-90
B Type.....*55H-60P.. 85-65H...70-100P...50-75P....68H-67P.....50-70P...60-80P

so, hopefully that comes out as a table. (about 50th time lucky perhaps)
well, not a proper one, as i have given up trying, but well, an innovative alternative
now - following on again from my previous post.

Step 1: TB x Belgian
Step 2: Forest x Belgian - 2 strains?
Step 3: (TB x Belgian) x (Forest x Belgian) [=N Cob)
Step 4: N Cob x (Forest x Belgian)

We cant control the physique of the TB, belgian, or forest as they are already created in this instance.
however, we can work towards what is needed for the norman cob.
you would have noticed that i have entered a guesstimate for how the TBxBelgian and ForestxBelgian will turn out. this is to give an indication of how those two crosses will work. so, from that data, we have something like

Expected and desired
height: 16-19.....15-16.3
build: MH.........m-mh
b size: 40-70....55-75 - i have a feeling my guesswork is very much underweighted here. more likely to be over size than under.
B type 50-60P...50-70p

now, i have also gone and added the stats for the Norman cob as well. so far, they dont look too hugely off. but if course, there are a huge amount of varibles, some of which inculde my guesswork which could be largely off.

but, all things considered, here is what i think we need to look for in the following steps:
1: (TBXB)
Height: as short as possible for both breeds.
build: look for lighter builds within both breed limits
b size: this is most difficult to assume, guesswork most likely off. I think coz the belgians are so big here, look for as low as possible within both breeds.
b type. belgian, less pony the better.

2: (FXB)
Height: short as possible
Build: lighter builds please!
b size: light as possible
b type Belgian, low pony as possible.

step 3, i'm guessing we wont have enough horses to be too picky, but we will see what we get!...

possible problem spots... hmm, well i have always had trouble with body size, so treating that as unpredictable. build can be a bit temperamental.. she how we go. height could be a big issue, just got to watch that one pretty close i thing.. well, enough of the theory... lets go find some horses! :D
Body type, although has a fairly big range, should fall into place.

finally, finished this post without anymore interruptions.. what should have been one, turned into three...!

That line: 'i read the breed recipie wrong, and its not a tb... its a tarpan.'
I have done that Same Exact Thing... on a number of the recipe quests. One was super bad, I went through three generations or so, couldn't figure out why it wasn't popping, until I realized it wasn't a North African Barb... but a West African Barb. X[

By the way, as long as you're careful with the parents, the norman cob should pop pretty easily. It did for me.
