Brown Dun?

Post by Stick »

I don't know why, but I have the hardest time correctly identifying brown when it isn't on a regular, undiluted horse.

I'm guessing he's brown dun? Is this right? ...Also, doesn't he have just the best white mane marking ever? :D

Yeah, it's brown dun :)

Sometimes, the difference between a brown and a bay dun can be near indistinguishable, but there'll always be some differences (like the brownish elbow, for example) I'll link a bay dun very similiar to a brown dun for reference

Ooo okay. If I'm getting this right, if it doesn't have distinctly warmer brown in its armpit and flank(?), it's a bay dun, and looking at the brown on the face would just be completely misleading.

For example, these two are bay duns and not brown?
