Dressage Database - 6/10 records broken

Post by Farant »

Hello!

I've been wanting to do it for a long time. Since I found regular English newsletter lacking, I decided to write my own. My goal is to determine what makes a perfect dressage horse. Therefore I won't waste my time writing about the same horses over and over again, I'll feature different horses whenever I find it worth featuring.

I'll explain my evaluation system a bit. After years of trying I came up with naming script for my own line. It is based on a google spreadsheet which I can't find now(it was made by someone else and it's somewhere on the forum) , but it assigns a value to every breeder's report comment that's related to dressage (colored stats are taken into account), I've tweaked it a bit and it worked pretty good so far. It calculates horse's rating based on its BR. Long story short, I evaluated horses who are good at dressage (good is World record level -5%, so everything above 45 is good). I also evaluated them using the Trakehners book to gain some insight on their build. I thought that there might be some interesting details. I'm just starting this journey so evaluation table is short so far.

Very interesting!

Also, I think the one you want is Silverine's evaluation form. It has a link in my quicklinks.

I let my current team out and here's the result. Still far away from what I want, but noticeably better than before. I have best results when all 5 or 6 of my stallions are competing against each other. I haven't seen scores above 50% in a while.
Let's see if Lantana manages to win more competitions. I'll give it one more day.

Well, this evening was really intense.

Lots of results above 50%. I'll link everything that I've noticed.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/compet ... dition=594 - Jolly, 50.30, Oriento is on 2nd place and Lantana took the third one. Nice!
https://www.horseworldonline.net/compet ... ition=1159 - Jolly again, 50.20. Lantana didn't make it. And look at this horse, it's 70+k HGP Thoroughbred! Dressage isn't his best discipline, but I like his looks anyway.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/compet ... ition=1183 - Jolly, 50.30. My last stallion, Sure-Handed, isn't going to make it. He's probably too light to compete against heavier horses, so Horse Medium or Pony Medium to MHeavy is the way to go. Another nice Arabian, insanely high HGP, but Arabians aren't made for dressage. Well, I remember Ares, he probably had some Arabian blood in him and he was a pain to deal with. Is he still active?..

https://www.horseworldonline.net/compet ... dition=115 - Jolly, 50,50. He's going to sire A LOT of foals soon. Credible is going strong too, but Jolly is better.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/compet ... dition=122 - Hoping is Golden, 50.02. Jolly took a break and look what happened. I'd like to feature two horses I noticed earlier.

First one is the winner. Very well built, practically perfect, on the heavier side. Anything heavier would be too much. HGP is on the lower side, but I can see his LS score and it's * impressive, 35,84. I guess it's his untrained score, it's way too low for a trained horse. It depends on his condition too, I test my foals when they're hungry and not in the perfect weight and they can't get above 35. Am I being too lazy?
Hoping is Golden

And his evaluation.

Second one is even more interesting. If his untrained score is really that high, my stallions might have some trouble. I've seen his scores on lower levels and let me include that too. Awesome. Can't wait for him to appear on higher levels. As far as I can see, he's doing good where my stallions can't reach. Since serious competition is non-existent on lower levels, I'm not surprised by his impressive record. But he's not holding up as well against my horses.
Ima Snicker 36.22

https://www.horseworldonline.net/compet ... dition=405 - Credible, 50.52, Jolly right next to him, 48 something.
https://www.horseworldonline.net/compet ... dition=394 - Credible, 50.42, everyone else isn't even close. Lantana came third, good.

I'll be busier during the week, feel free to link any competitions you see that are above 50%, especially if the winner isn't my horse. I'll be happy to feature everyone who manages to do that.

Congrats on the new record!

Also thank you for the rundown on two of my horses, to explain my scoring system they are all best out of 5, level 10 local shows, usually run around 6 months of age, completely unconditioned, and it's simply my way of weeding out who to train or breed quickly.

I'm using 1st level LS.. That's interesting, I'll do it your way with next bunch of foals. We can compare results :)

Thank you! I hope he repeats his achievement on lower levels. He was so close to breaking lvl 4 record, just 0.1% below the record, but didn't make it.
