Hi From Raven-Wood!

Post by Ravenmire »

Hi all!

New Member, and first time poster here; just wanted to offer a quick introduction, so hope this is okay to post!

Firstly, a little bit about myself :arrow: ;

  • Offline, I rescue & rehabilitate birds, specialising in Pigeons/Doves, Starlings & Blackbirds, so the majority of my time is taken up with feathery babies! The Rescuing world is great portion of my life, and something I am hugely passionate about. :)
  • I am Autistic/Neurodivergent, so I do find social interactions quite daunting at times! Please be patient with me :) (I am also Disabled, so I may take a little while to respond to any messages/comments while taking rest days :mrgreen: )
  • On the plus side, I do have the benefit of having specific Special Interests which include, but are not limited to Horse Coat Colour Genetics, Farrier work & Hoof health, as well as a heartfelt passion for Draught Breeds, specifically the Percheron and the conservation efforts of the Clydesdale & Shire breeds.
  • Growing up, I was most definitely a horseperson at heart - deep diving into horsemanship books, occasional holiday hacking, running home after school to watch Spirit; SotC on repeat, vast collections of secondhand Chestnut Ridge & Breyer, while dreaming up ways I could somehow afford to own and look after a dream horse on a pocket-money budget. I was forever the bane of my parents, relentlessly pointing out the local fields housing various ponies, and lamenting the fact I couldn’t secretly hide a pony in the garden shed like I’d read in my teenaged Horse Girl books :cry: :cry: :cry:

Secondly, wow! Having previously played various horse-care based games, but not really finding them to be as in depth as I’d like, I discovered and spent the last week or so learning to navigate HWO, working through the tutorial stage, and starting to build up some semblance of a routine during turns. I’m really enjoying my time so far, so thank you to the Admin/Modmin team for a lovely build!

A few things :idea: ;

  • If anyone is able to advise me on ways to create a reliable source of modest income, I would be super grateful! I’m ideally planning on being a member long term, and I’d like to invest in my skill tree for future Draught breeding programmes. (I’m currently learning about/working on training up some starters in English Discipline for Hunter/Dressage Eventing, with some small regular earnings in local shows.)
  • I managed to purchase some beautiful horses from the market as part of the tutorial stage, and since inhabiting Raven-Wood, I’ve made sure they have been in training, well fed and well looked after. Though, I hope I haven’t bought some meant for other users! :?
  • Once I’ve built up the farm a little and have more experience, I am planning to work on founding a line of Percherons with specific conformation while retaining Black/Grey/Silver/Dapple e.g and reducing Red. I know very basic Coat Genetics through personal research and similar horse care based games, however I am always willing to learn more, so advice and links to genetic/breeding threads are absolutely welcome.
  • Raven-Wood Ranch is very much a small project as I learn my way, so it may change a lot until I settle on a final version.
  • Some purchased horses have been renamed (previous names listed under Owners Comments), with new names a derivative of previous monikers, to work alongside Raven-Wood naming practises whilst maintaining a link to previous homes. (If the Breeder/Owner has stated that Brand/Name changes aren’t allowed, they will remain as such.)
  • If there is anything I should be aware of, please let me know! Being Autistic, some things can escape my perception, so I’m happy for kind/constructive feedback! :)

If you have taken the time to read this far, thank you!

I am happy to make friends and chat via message, however please be patient and bear with me, as the majority of my time is taken up by birdies in real life. That being said, happy to chat about anything horse related, particularly if we can deep dive into genetics/colours OR pigeons if that’s your thing!

Hi! It's always great to see some new people once in a while :) Here's hopefully some answers to any questions listed below, if not you can just let me know!

- One way I earn money is from player made competitions. I can share some links to guides and I can always lend grinders or do training if you're in need. ;)

- That's great that you're starting to train your horses! Training is definetly an important part of the game as well. Training can become faster if you learn more skills, which take real life time. I assume you've already found the skill section on the side though of course :lol: If you need funding for training feel free to ping me. Here's the code as well if you're stuck on that or don't know how to:

Code: Select all

- Here's some links to coat guides!

This post in unfinished so I'll be adding more links, sorry about that

Hello!

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate the time to source links & threads :) They will certainly give me a good read! Strangely enough, I’m finding it easier earning the Pony Tokens at my current level via completing quests and the occasional one or two from local competitions - however earning the $$ side of things for Skills etc is the harder part at the moment! :lol:

I’ve had a dabble into the lower level player competitions, and had a few small earnings, but I can definitely see how training competitive horses really work towards final scores :D Not having much luck so far, but it’s all about patience & training, and enjoying the journey!

Also, thank you for your kind offer for funding! I’d love to take you up on it, if that would be okay? Not entirely sure how we go about it, but I would be happy to reimburse you once I have earned it back :D

Thank you once again, I’m looking forward to progressing :)

No problem! You can put a horse up for offers, then I can offer 100k then return it, unless you'd like to put a horse up for stud for 100k. :)

That’s incredibly generous of you! :shock:
I shall see about putting a horse up for offers - not something I’ve done before :lol:

To put your horse up for offers, click "Sell horse" and then click the box beside the text that says "Allow offers". For it to be valid you must enter 0 in the sale price section. :)

Aww, thank you! She’s a gorgeous girl, and helped kickstart the HWO journey, however I’m not likely to need her urgently at current. If you need the space freed up, I can absolutely take her back! :)
