Temperament
Post by Malakai10 »
Would someone be able to tell me what disciplines require which temperaments, please? I get that the racing disciplines need highly strung horses and dressage needs bombproof, but what about the other English disciplines and the driving disciplines? I don't need to temperaments required for Western disciplines or in-hand jumping, as I don't compete my horses in those.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's not written yet. However, it goes by real life.Nachos 2nd wrote:I also would like to know.
I may not be entirely accurate, but here's a rough list.
High Strung:
Racing
Sprint Racing
Steeplechase
Harness Racing
Spirited:
Pole Bending
Barrel Racing
Endurance
Driven Dressage
Even:
Hunter
Show Jumping
Reining
Cross Country
Obstacle Driving
Marathon Driving
Calm:
Cutting
Working Ranch
Dressage
Saddleseat
Bombproof:
Log Pull
Western Pleasure
Western Trail
I'm sure I'm off on some of them. But that's the way I think mostly, when I think of horse temperaments and real life.
If there are others that have success for certain temperaments in certain competitions, this list can be much more accurate.

And probably in real life too.AlsoAlaina wrote:BlackOak2 wrote:

Thanks for this discussion as this is something I wonder about and don't put much effort in.
I think dressage might be even-tempered from my game experience. IRL, it's probably spririted for high levels of dressage.
