ISO Breeding Partners for Steeple Shets

Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

ISO Breeding Partners for Steeple Shets

Post by Cypress Creek Elites »

Hi everyone!

As some of you may know by now, I've been working on a line of Steeplechasing shetlands from solely shetland stock for quite some time. I now have two accounts with separate lines dedicated to this program, however with the COI changes it is now impossible for me to maintain a lowered (<100%) COI by myself.

This project was originally intended to be mostly private and produced solely by me, but that is no longer possible, so I am on the hunt for experienced, dedicated players to help expand the gene pool and overall population of the Steeple shet stock- with the goal being to eventually be able to just exchange horses from time to time in order to keep COI down.

I am at this moment looking for at least two other people to help with this program.

This is NOT a project for the faint of heart (or in-game wallet). It is incredibly frustrating, There's a reason that it's taken me over a year to get to where I am.

I will provide studs and (optionally) broods from both of my lines to get any new people started off. However, they will then be responsible for purchasing AC horses to diversify their own line. I'd recommend at least 2 mares for each stud that I provide.

I recommend looking for AC horses with fluffy manes and feathers. I personally am avoiding Lp and Silver, but anyone else is welcome to use whatever genes they would like.

My general wish is for horses not to be put up for public stud or sale. If we have "private" studs, we will put them up for fees high enough to give most other people pause. I am willing to reimburse any breeding partners for fees of this type, to a degree. These are very valuable horses (mostly due to the work that went into building up the original bloodline) and any sales that do happen should be priced as such.

Absolutely NO outside blood may be used in the line. It's fine if you want to cross out some of the studs into another project or just for fun, but a major part of the challenge of the line is that I have only used Shetlands in it, and any new blood has come straight from the AC.

Currently my best studs have steeple times under 10:18, which is pretty far off RH but still rather notable. I just need a little help to push them further.

I mean more like how many pregnant mares that were in the project would you be willing to do at once- like I think the max is 36 mares per account, so for example if you were planning on having 6 mares pregnant at a time for the project you'd say 6. This project isn't sustainable without a fairly significant account commitment. But other than that, looks good! How many studs/broods would you be wanting- and any specific genetics you'd like?

Ahh that makes more sense now.
I was thinking 2 studs and maybe 8-10 Mares? And then I'll go adopt some Shetlands if you want to ping me you could give me an idea of how your wanting to breed them in?

So how you decide to mix in the AC stock is entirely up to you, I'd just like to get and keep COI below 100%.

These are two very useful studs- one from each line. If you'd rather have studs who aren't already heavily used by myself theres also this guy: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/4188250
